The YA novel scenes are drafts of a story in progress and needs quite a bit of work.
The Novel:
a fantasy-esque novel which will probably need several books to complete. The world, when I am finished, I hope will be both imaginative and compelling.
The Characters:
There will be quite a number of characters, however the three main protagonists will consist of two teenagers and a younger sibling who must be looked after constantly... tho, not as much as the others would believe. A young boy named Tate Ashby who is 16, a girl of 15 Named Millicent Gabb and her youngest brother, (Sammy), who is 7 and struggles with sucking his thumb.
There are a few different antagonists as well, some who are truly evil and others who walk the fence, unsure themselves of where their allegiances lie.
The Story:
The main story, I hope, will become a well evolved world and will take place over several books.
The story first takes place on a continent hidden in the clouds which is suspended above a world quite like our own yet very different.
The floating continent, which is hidden from the world below, contains Cloud City, one of the continents only cities and birthplace of our antagonists. Rich in undiscovered natural resources and untapped magic the small continent contains a large mountain range a small yet largely untraveled sea and a few small villages and races. The world in which Cloud City is contained seems simple, but that is about to change!
The world beneath Cloud City, however, is a booming planet of industry and deception. A place where magic does not exist, or at least has been denied and outlawed, and evil creatures are trained to keep it's citizens at bay. The nations are at war and short of supplies to keep their empires running. All the nations are searching for the once rumored, once grand, lost city that was destroyed ages before but was said to have contained great secrets and the keys to survival.
Our story begins when our young friends find themselves in the middle of a museum fire and tales of strange creatures are whispered quietly in the streets. Unsuspecting, the trio find themselves victims of destiny, hunted by the evil Humpback sniffers and their almost human masters. Followed by a shifty, strangely dressed journalist they escape out to sea.
This is a tale of magic, science, and a struggle for human life. A struggle in a world where the powers of evil are less disastrous than the power of people who refuse to act. This story takes place on multiple eras at once. Cloud City, as if still in the days shortly after mid-evil times, and the planet beneath a modern world of science. Both like our own yet different in many ways.
Our friends will meet pirates, queens, vile creatures, and mad scientists. They will meet people of every race and color, people of despair, of courage and of hope.
Please keep in mind this is a vast story and a rough draft. A lot of what you read here will be samples but hopefully not spoilers Once again I welcom all criticism and comments!
